Elaine D., Jul 3, 2009, 9:55PM EDTHi Bev, Happy 4th of July.
Ed & I were talking about fireworks for the Fourth and I remember someone up there by you mentioned the fireworks display at Dow Chemical in Midland. Am I right? Or wrong? I mentioned it to Ed but we wouldn't know where we would go to find the public parking & display area. I really should have looked into this earlier in the week.
Our neighbor is coming home from the hospital tomorrow. Turns out he has a blood clot in the bottom muscle of his heart. A blood thinner has been prescribed for him with doctor telling him the blood clot will take 6 months to break up and dissipate. Mr. Bob is over 65 and receives dialysis treatments 3 times a week presently. So, his wife will have her hands full with this latest development. I think she does anyway.
Catch you later. Take care of yourself. -
Keren T., Jul 3, 2009, 4:34PM EDTHi Mom. Have a happy 4th of July! By the way, you can check out my new post. It has trivia on the Declaration of Independence.

Elaine D., Jul 2, 2009, 5:10PM EDTHello, my friend. I am happy to see that you are able to resume your postings & commentary. I know how much you enjoy it and there are so many Gather members looking for your posts.
Geez Bev, you had yourself quite a situation at work there. The thing that gets me is these people know individuals such as yourself are legit & expected to perform a required service/duty tied to the operation of the respective business. Same with the dollar store situation. I'm hopin' things have settled down for you as you return to work. Who needs the aggravation? You sure don't and neither does your son. People can be so ignorant. They get up on their high horses and create a totally unecessary situation and for what????? It is so pointless & a waste of energy. I really like the way you handled yourself. First class!! Good for you. You are a strong woman.
My neighbor is in the hospital. That is the best place for him to be right now. He is a dialysis patient (3 times a week). It had something to do with too much fluid in his body for the dialysis treatments to be administered.
Thank you so much for your suggestion for finding my kittens a good home. I really have to get going on this. I hate to do it but I have to. They are so funny to watch while they play. They are following me around now and curling their little bodies around my ankles, flopping over the tops of my feet and rolling over. They are so good with using the litter pans. They are totally comfortable with the big dogs and the dogs with them.
Bye for now. Take care of yourself. -
Elaine D., Jul 1, 2009, 2:42PM EDTHi Bev, How are ya today? Any rain out your way yet? Looks pretty overcast out there right now. I hope it rains like heck. Today I would rather that Mother Nature water the gardens instead of me. The last two days have had me doing battle with the mosquito hordes. I have so many mosquito bite bumps on both of my forearms & behind my knees that I can't stand to touch them because it feels so wierd. I bought the OFF spray and towelettes for today.
I am concerned about the next vote in the Senate re: Cap & Trade Bill passage. I realize the thing is even if it doesn't pass we will most likely be saddled with something similar in a watered down format. Carbon Tax payments = Insanity/madness a concept not justified by facts or reality.
A money-grab. power-grab, orchestrated intrusion into our lives furthering controlling of the masses by taxing the hell out of our necessities. Life, liberty and the persuit of happiness must prevail.
Has Mark gone back to the library to inquire about the position he applied for? A follow-up regarding selection of potential applicants for interviews????
I hope to check back with you later. Something is happening across the road at one of my neighbors homes. Sheriffs' emergency response vehicle, police car, ambulance.....
Bye for now.

Elaine D., Jun 26, 2009, 2:09PM EDTThanks for your help regarding my Craig's List post. You & Frank gave us some good info to follow up on. I plan to have a look later.
Ed wants to go out & I really don't feel like going anywhere at all right now. Oh well, have to get it together.
Bye for now. -
Elaine D., Jun 25, 2009, 11:29PM EDTHi Bev, How's things??? Today's' weather was nice too. I thought we were going to get some of that stormy weather earlier around 2:00 PM - 3:00PM. That is the reason I didn't water my friend Benny's garden this morning. We didn't get one drop from Mother Nature. I just got back from the evening watering. Takes me about an hour if I'm efficient at my routine. I feel like I'm up North while I'm in the garden. The fragrance from the pine trees, woodpeckers here & there, dragonflies, butterflies, and I saw the tiniest little toad today. Smaller than the size of my little fingernail. I looked for the deer we call the "peek-a-boo deer", a doe, with her two fawns. There she was just a'peekin' out of the pines on one of the trails with her fawns around her. I wish the four-wheeler wasn't so noisy. I was going slow so as not to scare her. She is always at a little distance. When I saw her I backed up and went a different way.
Shepherd, Michigan up near Mt. Pleasant. Keepin' my fingers crossed for your hubby. I know how much it means. Hopin' for Mister Mark too. Somethings' got to give sooner or later. Hopefully sooner. Hang in there.
Hey Bev, I listed two items yesterday on Craig's List. We need to sell our 1978 Ford T-Bird & a set of rims/tires. This is the first time we have ever used an Internet Site to sell anything. I'm not too sure about two responses we received. One in particular. If you have a chance to go to my post I put up today asking for advice, tell me what you think about the situations.
Oh boy, the kittens are starting to climb out of their new box. The sides are about 14" high and it's long enough for me to put a small litter box in it for the babies. I'll put one escapee back into the box and the next thing I know there are two of the kitties out of the box. I put them back in the box only to turn around and find the little fluffy black baby back out again. They are just too cute. They will be 6 weeks old this Saturday.
I hope you had a good day today. Try to stay cool.
Take Care

Elaine D., Jun 24, 2009, 3:58PM EDTBack at ya, It was good to hear from you as always. Happy to hear you have a source for the hose. One of the things my mom has trouble with is pulling the hose on. The last prescription the doctor gave her we used to get her hose and they were too small. Another time we went to the place in Flint where we could buy them and they measured her and even those didn't fit. Way too tight. I know they are supposed to fit snug but the ones my mom bought could not even be pulled up & on. There was no way she would even be able to do that herself. I can't be there every single day to do things like that for her. Also, yesterday, she admitted to me she is putting two of those memory patches on sometimes. I don't know how often "sometimes" is. With her she doesn't tell me everything. Knowing how she is I can pretty much surmise what is probably happening. I can tell you that I have noticed a difference for the better in the current details in conversation she remembers and I believe she is okay with staying on task or "on thought" now. She is not nearly as forgetful anymore. So there has been an improvement.
Hey Bev, are there items you own that you would consider selling??? That would help to bring in some cash for you guys. Craig's List is a very good vehicle for selling local.
I'll have to catch ya later. Bye for now. -
Elaine D., Jun 24, 2009, 12:21AM EDTHey Bev, Whatcha' Doin'?
Good for you with the $5.00 coupon off on the ground turkey. That is a nice chunk of change off the price of meat. That's the kind of a coupon that makes a difference. For me there are not many coupons I would bother using. One of my complaints is there are no coupons for meat or vegetables, fresh foods.
Ed & his poison ivy are just about finished. No more itching or spreading. Funny thing was our son, Eddie, called Sunday to tell us he has poison ivy now. He was supposed to have gone to the doctor Monday.
I will keep my fingers crossed for your son. I like the sound of the job. I too believe it would be a good match for him.
I stopped by your hubby's post. It was a great read. I had a chuckle over the intro he gave where he mentions your encouragement to Gather. He has a great cheerleader. I still have to swing by Keren's profile/posts.
Wasn't todays weather super? Todays high temp is supposed to hit 91 degrees. I'm glad you have AC in your room. The AC conditions your air, something necessary for the asthma. Did you know there are AC units, floor models on wheels I believe, that operate on 110 volt circuits? I don't know what the prices are. Probably priced according to cooling capacity.
And Mom, here we go again with her cellulitis issues on both legs now, swelling & probably the inflamation & weeping. She really tics me off. I am not kidding. She won't do what the doctor tells her. Oh, maybe at first because she is in dire straits. She was fine when the nurses were coming in three times a week and even when the visits wound down to once a week. She won't wear the compression hose like she is supposed to for one thing. Now, I haven't gotten over there to her place to see her because of my surgery & not driving. She was okay thru Mother's Day that I know of because my brother & sister-inlaw brought her to our home. I got on her case and pressed her to make an appointment with her doctor. June 30th I will take her in to see him. The last time she ended up in the hospital for 3 days.
I called the vet & asked about the eye color of the kittens. I was told the color will change. I'm hoping that it won't. They are just so cute with their blue eyes.
Time for me to turn in. I have to get up early to water my buddy's garden across the road. Twice a day. He brought over his goldfish today for us to watch. Ed says one goldfish is going to be pretty slim pickin's for all these cats we have. The little fish is safe. There is a fitted cover over the top of the tank. Nice little 5 gal. tank with an overhead light and a small submerged pump that recirculates the water from bottom to the top and it falls into the tank like a waterfall effect. It looks nice at night. You can hear the water falling like in a fountain.
So it's bye for now. Take care of yourself. Try to stay cool today.

Elaine D., Jun 22, 2009, 4:17AM EDTHi Bev, Glad you checked out the Gather info. Connie ("Keeping You Informed") C. has info on Todays Gather (i think it's called that) re: points/new info.
And yes, by all means, I will have a look at Keren's writing. Can't wait. But I'll have to swing by later today. I'll have to ask her how her trip to Tahquamenon Falls turned out. Hubby took me there many, many years ago. Before we had our sons. A long time ago. I luv waterfalls. Yup, I am looking forward to seeing the Dow Gardens.
I'm happy to hear you are feeling better. Hang in there my friend. I will catch ya later. Be good. Bye for now.
